1. Extension cord prohibition: Using a standard household or outdoor extension cord with a marine de-icer voids the manufacturer warranty and safety-listing coverage, causes voltage drop, and can trigger nuisance GFCI tripping. Always install a factory continuous molded quick-disconnect cord.
2. Saltwater anodes: Inspect sacrificial zinc anodes roughly every 90 days in brackish or saltwater environments and replace them once significantly eroded.
