Boat Lift Winter Ice Protection
Ice forming around a boat lift cradle can deform aluminum frame legs, freeze cables and cylinders in place, and stress hydraulic seals. A dedicated small-horsepower de-icer positioned under or beside the lift cradle keeps that specific area circulating and free of ice, separate from any main-channel de-icer serving the rest of the slip.
Placement Guidance
- Position a dedicated 1/2 HP-class unit beneath or immediately adjacent to the lift cradle rather than relying solely on a de-icer positioned elsewhere in the slip.
- Keep the unit angled away from direct contact with the cradle structure and cabling.
- Inspect cables, pulleys, and hydraulic lines for ice buildup before each freeze event where practical.
